CASE STUDY - How a Poorly Machined Coupling Causes Excessive Vibration to Your Pump

Posted on27/04/2023

Location : Garden by the Bay

Pump brand : Fybroc

Pump Model : 5500 2x3x6 (2 sets)

Remarks: Pumps was not purchased through Winston Engineering and was supplied by overseas vendor.

Incident Report:

In March 2022, Winston Engineering service team was hired to investigate the cause of excessive vibration. Their findings suggested that the pump coupling was poorly machined, causing the issue. Despite recommending rectification, the client did not proceed with the work.

In March 2023, the client reached out to Winston Engineering once again, and our team replaced two couplings as initially diagnosed. The accuracy of the diagnosis was confirmed as the vibration reading was reduced significantly from 12.7mm/s to 0.52mm/s upon the replacement.
